Engaging With My Audience: What Can I Do?

Engaging with your audience from a B2B strategy point of view can definitely be a struggle. However, we like to see it as a challenge rather than an obstacle. You might be seeing great website traffic numbers but low engagement numbers and we completely understand that struggle. Although both KPIs are important, you really want your audience to engage with your content. So, you might be asking yourself, what can my team and I do?

Here are three ideas to help engage with your audience:

1. Sharing personal experiences:

Try to be creative and use to your advantage your social media platforms. This will allow connecting on a deeper level with your audience. By sharing content that is more relatable and personable, it’s much easier for your audience to feel connected. At the end of the day, people want to feel like you are understanding their needs and goals, even in the B2B world!

PRO TIP: Incorporate once in a while content that is much more human to your social media platforms such as short interview comments or personal success stories from your coworkers.

2. Social Listening:

When possible, join conversations through your social media platforms. Pay close attention to what people are talking about you, reacting to posts, comments, and shares. This is a really simple tip that makes a difference by including yourself in conversations with your own audience. Social listening is also a great way to gain insights. By keeping up with what people are talking and reacting to, you can gather topics that your target audience is interested in.

PRO TIP: Make a list of these topics that you see people are talking about and share it with your marketing team to include them in your monthly content.

3. Make your content easy to read

The key is not to overdo it. By trying to include a series of different topics all in one message, the outcome would most probably be that the reader will remember a small percentage. Make your content easy to digest by including useful links, short paragraphs, a font easy to read, and by including relevant images that break the text. Making your content easier to read doesn’t mean you’ll lose professionalism, on the contrary, it’ll allow the reader to digest the information easily with a high chance that they’ll remember you more.

4. Visuals visuals visuals

We cannot express enough the importance of visuals. People today spend less and less time reading, which involves an extra effort to look for ways to capture their attention. Photographs, charts, tables, or other alternatives like infographics are a great way to communicate in a more creative way. Visuals will make it easier for the reader to captivate the message and, if you are creative enough, you’ll make a great impression as well. This is another strategy that helps to make your content be easy to digest and it’s more likely that your message will be understood and remembered.

It’s really important to keep in mind that marketing strategies constantly involve efforts to optimize and try different approaches when the results are not the best. Allow your content to evolve and mature according to your priorities and needs. However, one of your top priorities should always be to keep your target audience in mind.
